We are seeking an experienced and proactive individual for the role of Product Manager – Racking, to drive the growth and success of our trade racking division.
In this cross-functional role, you will bring your industry experience and work closely with the relevant teams to establish the foundation for solution design, distributor, and sales strategies.
As the subject matter expert, you will guide decision-making and ensure seamless communication and collaboration across multiple departments to maximize the products sales and service delivery performance.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Strategic Development: Develop and implement strategies for racking sales and service delivery, aligning with our overall company objectives and market demand.
* Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Sales, Design, Manufacturing, and Procurement, without direct reporting lines. Build strong relationships with department heads and directors to drive initiatives and best practices.
* Supplier Identification & Selection: Identify and select reliable suppliers for materials and components, working with the relevant team to negotiate terms to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to quality standards. Work with the procurement team to implement distributor agreements with suppliers, ensuring quality and value is delivered to our trade customers every time.
* Supplier Management: Work with the procurement team to ensure performance related KPI’s are implemented to drive excellent service levels. Attend supplier performance reviews as required and maintain positive relationships with regular communication.
* Quoting Systems Development: Create and implement streamlined, user-friendly quoting systems to support efficient and accurate quoting processes across the teams.
* Customer Quoting: Handle customer enquiries directly, swiftly preparing and providing tailored, competitive quotes based on customer needs. Work closely with the wider Sales team to ensure customer requirements are fully understood and met.
* Site Visits/ Surveys: Where required, attend site visits with or on behalf of our trade customers to ensure the correct solution is delivered.
* Training, Support & Product Knowledge: Hold a comprehensive understanding of the various racking systems available in the market and train, provide ongoing support to the wider sales team, ensuring they have the technical knowledge to design, cost-effective racking solutions for trade partners.
* Delivery Management: Oversee the delivery process of product sales, coordinating internal teams and external suppliers to ensure deliveries are accurately planned and customer satisfaction is achieved. Work closely with other team members and suppliers to quickly resolve potential stock or delivery issues.
* Market & Product Analysis: Conduct market research and product analysis to identify opportunities for product enhancements, new offerings, or cost reductions within the product category.
* Performance Monitoring: Track the sales and service performance of the trade racking division, utilizing data-driven insights to make informed decisions and implement improvements.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in product/division management, preferably in the sourcing, design, inspection and provisions of racking systems. SIERS or SARI qualified.
* Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of racking systems and the trade market. Ability to serve as the technical expert supporting internal teams and customers.
* Customer Engagement: Excellent customer-facing skills, with experience in handling customer enquiries, preparing quotes, and providing technical sales support.
* Project Management: Proven track record of managing complex projects, with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks and stakeholders effectively.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence various stakeholders, including those without direct reporting lines. Can work both independently, but also within a collaborative team environment.
* Commercial Acumen: Strong negotiation and supplier management skills, with an understanding of cost structures and the ability to develop competitive pricing strategies. Must be highly organised, self-motivated and possess great attention to detail.
* Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse market trends, product performance, and financial data to make strategic recommendations for product sales growth.
* Problem-Solving: Proactive and resourceful in addressing challenges, with a results-oriented mindset and an ability to communicate positively with all stakeholders.
* Software Proficiency: Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., Microsoft, ERP, CRM, CAD software) to support design, quoting, and manufacturing processes.
