Our Lancashire Operations Team has an opportunity for an experienced Jointer to join them in Manchester.
Our role
As an authorised Cable Jointer, you will be part of the Operations team responsible for Jointing cables on the underground electricity distribution network, working on both live and dead circuits.
You will participate in fault location and repair work, ensuring that interruptions to the customers electricity supply are kept to an absolute minimum. During the repair process you will be required to report on progress throughout thereby enabling the Customer Contact Centre to keep our customers fully informed at all times.
In addition, the team is responsible for the inspection and maintenance of various items of underground plant, this is done on a regular basis to ensure the on-going reliability of the network.
At all times and in all activities, you will fully comply with Electricity North West codes of practice and take a proactive approach to safety, you will participate in predetermined safety processes as required.
What we're looking for
To apply for this Jointer role, you will need an understanding of safety systems and the importance of risk assessments. You will also need to be customer-focused with the ability to communicate clearly and be willing to work outside in all weathers with some anti-social hours. In addition, you should be in possession of a full UK driving licence and be well organised, self-motivated and happy working as part of a team.
You will also:
* Hold a minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent;
* Relevant City & Guilds level 2 qualification;
* Hold an NRSWA (New Roads & Street Works Act) accreditation;
* Distribution Network Operator LV & HV jointing authorisations;
* Experience of operating plant;
* Relevant utility experience.
