Bethell are a Northwest & Yorkshire based civil engineering and utility services group, continuing with major expansion plans to support substantial growth in the wastewater and green energy sectors. We “directly deliver” where possible with our workforce expected to grow from 330 to over 500 in the next three years rising further to over 800 in our 10-year plan.
Bethell, which has operated in the Northwest for over 150 years, has a significant number of long-term framework contracts within the Utility/Green Energy sector, Local Authorities and key infrastructure clients. We need to ensure the appropriate level of Health, Safety, wellbeing and environmental considerations and liabilities are continually met, making HSQE professionals an integral function of our delivery. Striving for continuous improvement and a desire to “Raise the Bar” on standards, we are keen to engage professionals with a like-minded approach to operational/process compliance. As an equal opportunity employer, we have been accredited with both Investors in People (IIP) Gold and IIP Wellbeing Silver. We offer accredited training to colleagues who wish to develop themselves professionally and grow their skillsets, allowing HSQE professionals not within the Construction sector to diversify.
Several of our key clients have significant workloads, some looking to treble their expenditure budgets over the next 20 years. This forward pipeline of work, coupled with our existing long-term frameworks, makes Bethell well positioned to offer guaranteed continuity of work, a competitive salary, and a market-leading benefit package, which will be further enhanced through performance objectives.
Bethell are currently expanding across the whole Group, and as a result of this, we are looking for a driven, experienced HSQE Advisor to join us and take control of all of the current project pipeline.
As our new HSQE Advisor, you will be responsible for promoting and embedding good practice throughout the Group and driving improvements to the health, safety, and wellbeing of all our colleagues and customers. Our sites are wide-ranging, including Highways, Infrastructure, Multi Utilities, and other Civil Engineering projects. Our teams will always require development and guidance from our HSQE department, and you will provide this by actively participating in reviews, evaluations, and incidents accordingly. This will ensure the HSQE function and our site personnel work effectively together to avoid major incidents on site or in the office. The main duty of your role is to ensure that the company HSQE Management Systems meet the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001, and you will instil this into our workforce at all levels.
About you
You will be passionate about Health & Safety and be able to manage time and resources effectively. As part of a wider team, you will be able to communicate effectively with peers and other members of the Bethell Operational element. Experience in site audits, problem-solving, identifying site strengths and weaknesses, and providing lasting solutions that can be mirrored throughout the company is essential. Ideally, you will have NEBOSH, either general or construction, and be a member of IOSH.
Are you ready to make a change?
Career enhancement and development, colleague well-being, and a genuinely positive work experience for all are key priorities. We are continuously evolving and improving our ways of working, and you will support us in achieving our vision over the coming years.
