Elsie Gilding Unit Ward Clerk
(Older People Service)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motived individual who is looking to progress their career in NHS as we have an opportunity for a Band 2 Ward Clerk. This role will be based at Royal London Hospital where you will be an integral part of the Elsie Gilding Unit Team. You will provide administrative support to the wards, be the face of our department for our patients, relatives, and Carers. You will attend board rounds, co-ordinate patient transport, support discharges, collect patient feedback, and ensure our patient information is updated contemporaneously.
This is a varied role within a fast-paced environment that requires a positive approach and a can-do attitude. You will have excellent customer service skills, advanced IT skills, pay attention to detail and enjoy working in a patient facing role.
You may be expected to cross cover between our other ward, if necessary.

To support the Elsie Gilding Unit with administrative tasks and support the ward managers.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. GCSE Level or equivalent standard of education, including English & Mathematics.
2. A track record of continuous personal development.
Desirable criteria
3. ECDL or equivalent experience

4. Experience of working in a customer facing environment, resolving queries, and using initiative to ensure first class services delivery.
5. Demonstrate understanding towards distressed patients/ relatives and carers.
6. Experience of working with population from a diverse background.
Desirable criteria
7. Experience of assisting in maintaining a healthy, safe and secure working environment for self and other.
8. Experience working in busy hospital Environment and in an admin reception role
9. NHS experience is advantageous
Knowledge
Essential criteria
10. Experience in an office setting, ideally in an NHS environment.
11. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and be willing to learn how to use in house computer software systems
12. Knowledge of GDPR
13. Knowledge of Freedom of Information Act
14. Understanding of own knowledge and skills framework and ability to identify learning need.
Desirable criteria
15. Knowledge of Trust management policies and procedures.
16. Knowledge of Downtime and Major Incident procedures.
17. Knowledge of Trust computer systems such as Cerner Millenium is advantageous
