A very exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Team Leader /Deputy Ward Manager on the brand new, flagship Salus Ward - This is a rare opportunity!
This opportunity would allow you to utilise your experience and skills on a flagship ward and create a space where you can expand the areas of nursing practice that you are passionate in.
Main duties of the job
The role consist of:
1. Assisting the Ward Manager in setting up standards, promoting change and developing nursing practice, supervision and audit.
2. Deputise for the manager in his absence.
3. Ensure the delivery of high standards of nursing care to all service users, in accordance with evidence based professional practice and trust policies.

Job responsibilities
Communication and Working Relationship Skills
4. To have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Work in partnership with all health, social care professionals and other stake holders, maintaining effective communication that benefits the patients/ service users wellbeing.
6. Liaise with carers, families and user groups and representatives.
Planning and Organisational Skills
7. To act as shift coordinator.
8. To deputise for the manager in his/her absence.
9. Lead and supervise others, undertake PDRs and manage absence.
10. Assist with the development and delivery and evaluation of evidence based treatments.
11. To participate in training and development of junior staff within the clinical environment.
12. Monitoring of clinical work.
13. To develop the team to maximise skills.
14. To ensure the appropriate delegation of tasks taking into consideration the skills and grade of staff members.
15. Produce staffing rotas, taking into consideration budgetary requirements, skill/gender grade mix to meet clinical need.
Responsibility for Patient/Client Care, Treatment and Therapy
16. To ensure that care plans are implemented and reviewed as part of ongoing assessment.
17. To ensure that robust, up to date risk assessments are carried out by the relevant staff.
18. To ensure standards of care are maintained to the highest level.
19. To promote good practice in the management of acutely disturbed clients.
20. To adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct and other professional guidelines.
Responsibility for Policy and Service Development Implementation
21. To work with the Ward Manager to review, update and implement standards and policies for use in adult inpatient settings as appropriate.
22. To participate in ongoing training and education progress.
23. To be aware of current initiatives in inpatient care.
24. To promote service changes with a positive and professional attitude.
25. To explore innovative ways of delivering and improving patient care.
Responsibility for Finance, Equipment and Other Resources
26. Establish an efficient working environment, making the most effective user of staff, supplies, equipment and services.
27. To demonstrate effective risk management.
Responsibility for Human Resources, Supervision, Training, HR Advice and Management
28. To provide supervision and appraisals for qualified staff.
29. To demonstrate effective leadership/ management skills.
30. To participate in the role of mentor to students.
31. To participate in audits.
32. To develop and empower junior staff within the team.
Responsibility for Information Resources and Administrative Duties
33. To ensure accurate documentation.
34. To have working knowledge of the EPEX system.
35. The post holder will ensure that clinical/care records both written and electronic are accurate and are consistent with professional and organisational requirements.
Any Other Specific Tasks Required
36. Report any observed incident of unprofessional behaviour, accident/incident, untoward occurrence and faulty equipment immediately to ward manager.
