As an Equipment Engineer at AESC, you will be working with the world’s leading battery technology company and lithium-ion battery manufacturer. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of one of the North East’s highest profile manufacturing plants as we are expanding our operations at our battery manufacturing plant in Sunderland. We are looking for an Equipment Engineer to join our Engineering team in order to support current production as well as the development and operation of a world-class and innovative mass manufacturing Gigafactory.
This is a unique opportunity to join one of the most exciting, large scale industrial developments in many years, where new and emerging technologies will be adopted in support of the rapidly growing electric vehicle marketplace.
Outline and Responsibilities:
1. Work as part of the core Equipment Engineer project team to deliver and maintain the UK’s first ‘at scale Gigafactory’.
2. Be responsible for process and plant equipment, providing support to site functions like production, QA, and maintenance.
3. Represent the engineering department in all facility aspects from initial project phase to mass production of the Gigafactory.
4. Support the development of a manufacturing zone, working within a multi-disciplined team.
5. Ensure all equipment is safe and legally compliant from design to integration and implementation, attending design reviews and working with equipment suppliers.
6. Set and measure facility performance which is class-leading, challenging but achievable.
7. Agree equipment strategies to ensure facility OEE is achieved and improved while life cycles are managed and maximized.
8. Provide technical support for maintenance to ensure equipment is kept in first-class condition.
9. Form a refurbishment strategy.
10. Manage planning, schedule control, and project management.
11. Procure production facilities and processes.
12. Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
1. Good inter-communication and report writing skills.
2. Computer literate, MS project, Excel, etc.
3. Able to demonstrate a positive and logical attitude.
4. The capacity to quickly learn and absorb new technologies.
5. Technical Degree / Certificate or equivalent in an electrical discipline.
Specific Technical Skills:
1. Electrically biased engineer with some mechanical knowledge/skills.
2. Knowledge of the latest machinery standards.
3. Some PLC and systems knowledge is desirable but not essential (Siemens / Mitsubishi etc.).
4. Experience in complex technical manufacturing processes and/or special purpose assembly machines would be a distinct advantage.
5. Previous experience in high volume manufacture, clean/dry room experience is preferred but not essential.
6. Knowledge of current legislation of machinery standards.
7. Experience working within APQP, IAFT framework desirable.
