Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey has been established for over 100 years and is the major provider of services for people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, partially sighted, and deafblind in Surrey.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Sighted Guide Support Worker to assist an employee in their role as an Apprentice Vision Rehabilitation Specialist.
Building a close working relationship with the team member, you will assist in sighted guiding in different environments, provide administrative support when systems are not accessible, and transport to different visits in the community of Surrey.
You will be an active listener who demonstrates empathy and understanding, with excellent communication skills. Excellent IT and organisational skills are particularly important when supporting administrative tasks. You will also ensure accurate written and record-keeping of a person’s information and needs.
You will be a team player, working well as part of a team, and will be flexible, reliable, and enthusiastic.

Principle Accountabilities:
1. Provide sighted guidance by describing environments to inform the apprenticeship's assessment.
2. Provide administrative support in the coordination of meetings and writing of assessments on databases that may not be compatible with software and/or accessible.
3. Provide sighted guidance and administrative support during ad hoc meetings, including but not limited to multi-disciplinary workshops and training dates.
4. Transport to and from visits in the community across Surrey.
5. Support administrative tasks including accurate and timely record-keeping on two databases.
6. Prevent, detect, and respond to safeguarding concerns, implementing safeguarding policies and procedures for individuals at risk.
7. Support the contribution of quantitative and qualitative data collection.
8. Adhere to financial controls.
9. Adhere to the organisation's health and safety policies, including the lone working policy and procedures.
10. Participate positively in team learning, reflection, and continuous improvement activities.
11. Engage and support the charity's fundraising activities and shared learning opportunities.
12. Comply with all operational policies and procedures related to your role, including the equality policy.

This is office-based with travel across the county. Access to your own vehicle is required for travelling across Surrey.
