Role: Junior Merchandiser
Reporting to: Head of Merchandising
Overview: The Merchandising team at Victoria Beckham are responsible for the commercial briefing, range building and product strategy for the global business. This includes defining the SKU assortment, providing input on sketches and fabrics, setting retail prices, and delivering a collection to the sales and direct to consumer (DTC) teams in-line with the brand strategy as well as being commercially driven.
Working closely with all key stakeholders (design, development, fabrics, wholesale, DTC, production, finance, marketing etc) collaboration, strong communication and a passion for opportunity and success are the foundations for this team.
The Junior Merchandiser plays an integral role within the merchandising team and will be the key point of contact between the Wholesale, DTC and Merchandising teams providing timely reporting and analysis across all channels, insight into the competitor landscape for all departments and assisting on the creation of, and maintenance of key tools and files.
PRODUCT AND COLLECTION MERCHANDISING
- Work collaboratively with the Wholesale and DTC teams to gather important qualitative and quantitative analysis to support the collection plan creation.
- Create and maintain the Pricing Matrix file, managing benchmarking across all categories.
- Research and maintain competitor analysis throughout the season (including in-store retail visits) for the Merchandising team to have a clear understanding of the market and suggest opportunities for growth.
- Collaborate with the Head of Merchandising to present to Wholesale and DTC stakeholders during key collection meetings, and to Design and Development teams during proto & product reviews.
- Set up the seasonal fabric to sketch (FTS) file, participate in FTS meetings and maintain the file, sending weekly updates to Design, PD and Fabric teams.
- Participate in pre-production fits to ensure all relevant comments are captured on the linesheets, added to the JOOR system, and communicated to the relevant teams.
REPORTING
- Assist with the creation of the seasonal Orderbook Overviews analysing the previous season’s sales, creating relevant charts and best seller information.
TRAINING AND SHOWROOM
- Participate in the Product Committee and Sales Handover by assisting the Assistant Merchandiser on collating the relvant materials (samples, fabrics, inspiration and colour boards etc) and help the Head of Merchandising to present the collection.
- Assist with creating the seasonal training pack ahead of the product deliveries and help to deliver training to the Sales, Direct to Consumer, Press and Marketing teams as required.
- Assist with the setup of the linesheets in the JOOR sales system.
- Participate in showroom set up and installation, including assisting with visual merchandising of the collection.
- Update the relevant teams, including production changes and cancellations as well as pricing and style code updates.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Significant interest in the luxury fashion industry and an extensive career in Buying and Merchandising is essential.
- Numerate and analytical - experience of analysing data and producing reports.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, particularity Excel and PowerPoint, including a knowledge of formulas and pivot tables.
- Experience of a product lifecycle management and/or sales system would be an advantage.
- Significant knowledge of the fashion market and trends and the global events that have an impact on fashion retail.
- Comfortable working as part of a team as well as alone.
- Attention to detail and able to multitask in a high-pressured working environment.
- Excellent communication skills - understanding how to interact with people from different cultures, backgrounds and with different personalities.
