About the Role
The Combined Control Centre Engineer plays a key role in the safe operation of the Mersey Tunnels, in particular the operation of the tunnel ventilation, lighting and pumping systems. Responsibility includes reacting to emergency situations and liaising with Tunnels Police to deal with incidents as they arise to ensure the safety of and minimal impact to tunnel users, staff and contractors and that any disruption to the tunnel operations is minimised.
About the Person
The ideal candidate will have a technical background and knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems, will be able to work a 12-hour shift pattern, and be a team player with experience of using computer-based control and monitoring systems. We are looking for a person who is action-focused with great communication skills to be a part of this busy team.
The 12-hour shift pattern consists of 2 x 12-hour days and 2 x 12-hour nights throughout the year.
Any appointment will be subject to satisfactory NPPV3 clearance (Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 3).
