Reporting to the Estates Engineering Supervisor, this role has responsibility for the reliable and compliant operation of the estate wide services and equipment serving all business functions across the clients facility in Hertfordshire. The main purpose is to deliver a high standard of mechanical and electrical services throughout the business within the estates engineering team. The team also plans and undertakes routine scheduled maintenance of plant and/or equipment with stakeholders, causing minimal disruption.
Key duties
1. You will be on call (1 week per month), including absences to cover holiday and sickness, as required.
2. Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance as required within critical and non-critical environments.
3. Work is carried out in accordance with current regulations and safety standards.
4. Monitor BMS for running equipment and responding to alarm conditions.
5. Investigate mechanical/electrical faults, identify root cause and corrective remedies.
6. Assist when and where required with installation work and small projects.
7. Provide support to other team members in accordance with experience and competencies.
General
8. Ensure documentation required for statutory, H&S and GxP standards are completed and filed.
9. Arrange contractor site inductions and enabling work to start safely.
10. Propose ideas/initiatives for continuous Improvement to streamline, increase efficiency or reduce cost.
11. Assessment of critical spares, reviewing supply and storage needs.
12. Positive contribution to the “team” effort and the raising of the standard.
13. To minimise energy consumption through effective control and use of plant and systems.
14. Produce feedback to supervisor as required.
Experience Required:
15. Engineering experience in similar regulated environment
16. Good awareness of Health and Safety
17. Multi-Skilled in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
18. Experience on steam boilers – blowdowns and water treatment.
19. VSD’s, motor controls and relay logic
20. Domestic and low temperature hot water systems.
21. AHU’s, FCU’s, chilled water and compressed air systems
22. Working knowledge of “Permit to work” systems.
23. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and equipment manuals.
24. Need to be flexible, as occasionally the need will arise to work outside standard office hours.
25. Experience of CMMS and BMS systems.

26. IOSH Institution of Occupational Safety and Health
27. Critical Environment Experience.
28. Engineering experience in pharmaceuticals
29. Water systems and associated risks (ACoPs L8/water treatment)
