An exciting opportunity has arisen within Moorfields Eye Hospital Adnexal Service for a dynamic and caring nurse to provide ophthalmic care, information and advice to patients with eyelid, lacrimal, and orbital conditions.
Main duties of the job
In this part-time post, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the patients' adnexal condition at the first point of contact, providing aftercare following surgery, and maintaining continuity of care throughout the patient journey.
This exciting role also involves an independent post-operative and remote telephone/video reporting clinic, so the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate communication and specialist skills, knowledge, and expertise in adnexal conditions.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for actively contributing to the continuing development of the ophthalmic nursing role within the Adnexal Outpatient Clinic.
They will carry out the post-surgical assessment and intervention in our post-op and telephone clinic, provide specialist ophthalmic nursing advice and clinical discharge, and undertake specialist nursing procedures ensuring that all patients receive the highest standards of care. After training and supervision, they will have the opportunity to participate in independent management of designated patients as an Adnexal Nurse Practitioner.
The post holder will provide supervision to junior staff, students, and may undertake research and lead clinical audits in their own specialist area.
They are responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of patients at all times and will always work in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person-centred care principles.

Qualifications
* Active full NMC Registration
* Relevant clinical post-registration ophthalmic qualification
* NVQ Assessor Qualification
Experience
* 2 years Band 5 experience or above
* Ability to work independently as a practitioner
Ophthalmic knowledge & skills
* Pg Cert
