Metalwork Industry Location: Workshop LU6 3QL, Site Works: All Over, Commonly London (Residing in /around Stevenage would be beneficial for transport to and from Site) Working Hours: [e.g., Full-time, Workshop: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, Friday 7:00am – 3:00pm, When on Site, Time varies tends to be 10-11 hour days Mon-Thurs Fridays 7-10 hours per day Salary: £14-£17 per hour, depending on experience, Temporary to Permanent for right candidate, PAYE or Self Employed (to be discussed further at interview) Job Purpose: To assist skilled tradespeople and fabricators in the day-to-day running of metalwork operations both in the workshop and on-site. This role involves supporting the fabrication, assembly, transportation, and installation of structural and architectural metalwork components, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. We are looking for someone who can use their own initiative and is comfortable around and used to using power tools. Key Responsibilities: Workshop Duties: Assist with the preparation, cleaning, and finishing of metal components. Operate basic workshop equipment and hand tools under supervision. Load and unload materials and finished products. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and storage areas. Support welders and fabricators with cutting, grinding, drilling, and assembling tasks. Site Duties: Transport materials and tools to and from job sites. Support installation teams with lifting, holding, and fixing metal components. Follow all site safety protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE. Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment and temporary structures. Carry out general site labouring tasks as directed by the Site Supervisor. Health & Safety: Follow company and site-specific health & safety policies and procedures. Report any hazards, accidents, or unsafe practices immediately. Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times. Skills & Experience Required: CSCS card or equivalent site safety certification (will be necessary to gain if not already available for Site works element) Previous experience in construction, fabrication, or metalwork (preferred but not essential). Ability to work safely with tools and machinery (training can be provided). Physically fit and capable of manual handling and lifting. Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel to sites. Reliable, punctual, and a good team player. Qualifications & Training (Desirable): Any additional qualifications will be beneficial Manual Handling and/or Working at Height training. Forklift or telehandler licence.
