As a Production Scheduler, you will report to the Planner and Production Services Manager, working a day shift pattern. Your primary responsibility will be to establish a detailed machine shop schedule daily, taking into consideration customer requirements, roll positioning, and plant capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure timely movement of products from the Foundry to the Machine Shop.
2. Communicate production plan status effectively to the manufacturing team.
3. Create and maintain an effective machining production plan to meet customer delivery dates.
4. Manage capacity constraints within operations, providing alternative solutions as needed.
5. Liaise with internal departments (Foundry, Heat Treatment, Technical, and Commercial) to identify and address potential production issues.
6. Collaborate with production Supervision/Management to monitor daily progress and address constraints.
7. Prepare production reports, including efficiency, machine utilization, and OEE performance.
8. Ensure drawings and routing cards are in order and available for the Machine Shop.
9. Review key performance indicators and create improvement plans to enhance overall performance.
Skills & Experience:
1. Education/Experience:
2. Minimum HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a degree is preferred.
3. Experience in a manufacturing production environment is highly advantageous.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Strong knowledge and experience in Production Planning.
2. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
3. Familiarity with Planning/Scheduling packages (training provided on the company's bespoke system).
4. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Knowledge of lean manufacturing methods.
7. Experience in process control/improvement and system management (Seiki Air/Scheduling experience preferred).
