Seeking a Technical Compliance Manager for Environmental Compliance in Waste Management. Are you a dedicated professional with a passion for ensuring environmentally compliant waste transfer and processing? We are searching for a Technical Compliance Manager with a background in Waste Management and Recycling to oversee these essential operations.
Position Details:
Title: Technical Compliance Manager – Waste Management and Recycling
Package: £40,000 plus a company car, fuel card, laptop, mobile, and pension benefits.
Location: UK-wide role, covering sites in South Wales, North West, and South East, with travel requirements. Ability to work from home.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the development and implementation of compliance strategies for land remediation projects, ensuring alignment with environmental policies and legislation.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of European Waste Codes (EWC) and ensure the correct classification and disposal of waste materials.
• Conduct regular compliance audits, assessments, and reviews in line with ISO standards and other relevant environmental management systems.
• Manage and mitigate risks associated with non-compliance, including the development of corrective action plans.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and environmental scientists to integrate compliance measures into project planning and execution.
• Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, representing the organization during inspections and any enforcement actions.
• Design and deliver training programs for staff to improve awareness and understanding of compliance requirements and best practices.
• Stay up to date with changes in environmental laws and regulations, analyzing their impact on operations and adjusting compliance strategies accordingly.
• Prepare and submit compliance reports to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies.
• Facilitate the attainment, maintenance, and renewal of any necessary environmental permits and licenses.
You will also play a vital role in upholding the company’s Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems, Policies, and Procedures to ensure compliance.
Experience:
We are looking for candidates with a strong background in ensuring waste movements are compliant, with a fundamental understanding of waste management in a commercial context. This includes tasks such as creating soil analysis reports, managing planning consents for landfill disposal, and categorizing waste using WM3 and LFT1.
Qualifications:
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are advantageous:
• WAMITB COTC (Certificate of Technical Competence) in Waste Management
• Environmental Science Degree or Masters
• ISO 9001 Auditing or Implementation
• ISO 14001 Auditing or Implementation
• ISO 18001 Auditing or Implementation
• IOSH / NEBOSH
• Full UK Driving License (Essential)
• Proficiency in commonly used IT systems such as Microsoft Office or Databases
