Job summary
An important senior role has become available within the Pharmacy Directorate Team, which is part of the Medical Directorate. Supporting the Assistant Director of Pharmacy, you will be providing leadership to an experienced, redesigned, Pharmacy Team into our next chapter as an ICB, working with the wider healthcare system to integrate pharmacy and medicines optimisation.
We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist with leadership skills, including managing teams, strategic planning and delivery, resource management, building and maintaining stakeholder networks.
You will support the Associate and Assistant Directors of Pharmacy and the work of the Medical Directorate in delivering high quality, safe and effective care across Joined Up Care Derbyshire.
Main duties of the job
Main duties include to:
1. Lead place based functions across the North East Derbyshire & Bolsover, High Peak, Dales & Glossop geographical areas, working closely with the other Heads of Pharmacy with place based responsibilities
2. Support the work of the Medical Directorate in delivering high quality, safe and effective care across care pathways within Joined Up Care Derbyshire whilst delivering Population Health Management, prevention and the effective reduction in Health Inequalities;
3. Lead on the effective planning, development, and delivery of specific areas of the Derbyshire Pharmacy Directorate Team and system programmes and work plans; this may include extend to the management of key projects/ services including their staff management;
4. Co-ordinate and manage the work of the Pharmacy Directorate Team and provide them with regular mentorship and training to ensure a co-ordinated approach across Derbyshire;
Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with providers including clinicians, pharmacists, technicians and the ICB in order to influence prescribing and commissioning behaviour according to ICB policy;
5. Lead on the integration of pharmacy professionals across the ICS ensuring development of ICS pharmacy and multidisciplinary networks;
6. Lead on professional pharmaceutical advice and guidance to immunisation and vaccinations including COVID vaccinations and liaison with the VOC

The post holder is responsible for providing professional expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the Department or Directorate;
The post holder will define current processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future processes, document those processes as they are agreed and oversee their delivery;
7. Lead the effective planning, development and delivery of the ICBs Pharmacy Directorate Team plan and ensure its delivery for designated strategic areas;
Guide future developments in pharmacy, medicines, prescribing and related fields at the planning and implementation stages. This will require the ability to consider a range of options and their implications;
Actively support and take part in ICB visits to providers when necessary, preparing information and reports required for visits;
Work collaboratively with the Pharmacy Directorate Team, ICB and ICS teams to provide a co-ordinated approach to lead on agreed projects for the benefit of the ICB and ICS. Support the Chief Pharmacy Officer, Associate/Assistant Directors of Pharmacy in their strategic role and deputise where required;
Lead the development and management of key Pharmacy Directorate Team meetings; actively participate in meetings as required;
Manage change in prescribing behaviour through audit, prescribing and specialist advice in order to promote quality, and cost-effective prescribing across the ICB and the ICS;
Pharmaceutical lead for long term condition area(s) to provide pharmaceutical and medicines expertise and support to wider ICB and ICS programmes;
Guide future developments in prescribing, pharmacy and related fields at the decision making, planning and implementation stages as relevant to the specific post. This will require the ability to consider a range of options and their implications;

8. Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area;
9. Pharmacy degree, and educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area;
10. Diploma or MSc in clinical pharmacy or pharmacy practice, or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area;
11. Significant experience of working in a primary care organisation specialist prescribing advisory role;
12. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council;
13. Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development;
14. Experience or working within a multidisciplinary team including GPs and other prescribers;
15. Experience of clinical audit, change management, strategic development, project management and leadership;
16. Experience of staff management;
17. Experience of performance management including budgetary;
