The Role: We are seeking an experienced Finance Director with strong commercial acumen to drive our client's financial strategy, reporting directly to the CFO. Experience in guiding a company through rapid growth, from early-stage VC funding to exit, is particularly relevant. As a seasoned finance leader, you will have a proven track record of managing high-performing teams, delivering financial initiatives, and scaling businesses. While there is a capable team managing business-as-usual finance operations, you will still need to take a hands-on approach to day-to-day financial activities. This role requires a dynamic leader who can dive into the details when needed, making it unsuitable for those who prefer a hands-off style. Responsibilities: Oversee and manage the day-to-day activities of the finance team, which includes financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and compliance. Manage project-based accounting and utilization metrics to ensure accurate tracking of costs and revenue related to high-value projects Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of monthly management accounts, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Maintain robust financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Oversee cash flow management, working capital optimization, and treasury functions. Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and support business growth initiatives. Lead initiatives to enhance financial systems, processes, and tools to support scalability and efficiency. Implement best practices in financial management, reporting, and analysis. Requirements: ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with 8 years of post-qualification experience, including significant experience in a leadership role. Expertise in project-based accounting and utilization metrics is essential. Proven track record in a high-growth business, preferably within deeptech, robotics, or renewable energy sectors. Experience managing and developing finance teams, with excellent leadership and people management skills. Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and statutory reporting. Advanced knowledge of financial systems and tools, with the ability to implement process improvements. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels. Benefits: Base Salary: £130,000 - £150,000 Competitive benefits package.
