Job Purpose:
The VDC Mechanical Coordinator, reporting to the VDC Manager, is tasked with preparing and coordinating mechanical design documents and BIM models, primarily focusing on HVAC systems. This role ensures that all models are accurate, efficient, and ready for installation. The coordinator works closely with Lar-Mex’s project team, including architects, engineers, and subcontractors, to deliver high-quality, coordinated mechanical systems that align with project specifications. Though the primary focus is on HVAC, plumbing coordination is also included.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Interpret plans and specifications, aid in assessment of engineering documents to provide efficient, and economical application of mechanical designs.
* Prepare mechanical system designs, fabrication, and co-ordination drawings with the design team.
* Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure design work carried out meets the project requirements while not exceeding the design specifications of the equipment being provided.
* Coordinate design issues with project team.
* Work closely with consultants and customers to provide new mechanical solutions and develop project design documentation to meet their project team.
* Ensure models are accurate, compliant with project specifications, and ready for efficient installation
* Provide detailed design workload reports to the VDC Manager to ensure appropriate staffing is maintained to accomplish the work at hand.
* Work closely with our construction team to provide proper sleeving and pre-fabrication drawings.
* Conduct site visits to ensure accuracy of drawings.
* Perform other duties as assigned to support the project and team needs.
* Support the VDC Manager in maintaining quality standards across mechanical models.
Knowledge and Abilities:
* Proven experience in mechanical systems design, with a focus on BIM coordination.
* Proficiency in BIM software, particularly in managing and coordinating 3D models for MEP disciplines.
* Familiarity with construction methods and building codes.
Required Skills:
* Effective communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills.
* Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaborate in a team-based environment.
* Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to meet deadlines using multitasking skills on several projects.
Considered an Asset:
* Understand assembly techniques and how they impact on the design and development of products.
* Hands on field experience in mechanical contracting industry.
* Bilingual written and oral proficiency in English and French.
Education:
* Degree or diploma in a related field of study is preferred.
