Poscity Rushden What DBS check is required?: None Pospospublishenddate 1 July 2024 Descriptionheader Legal Counsel We're currently recruiting for a Legal Counsel to join our Group Legal, Compliance and Governance Team (GLCG). This role will support the construction business on all legal matters and be responsible for providing effective and timely advice on both contentious and non-contentious matters. You'll have the opportunity to work on some of the nation's biggest projects from modular super size prisons, market leading passivhaus schools and state of the art healthcare facilities. We are at the forefront of building local communities and you could be a part of it. Location: Flexible, hybrid working with occasional travel for meetings Contract: Permanent, full-time and able to consider part-time working Responsibilities As a Legal Counsel, your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Provision of all day-to-day legal and governance support to the commercial and operational teams within our Kier Construction business division. Scope, cost control and appointment of external legal suppliers where required, in conjunction with the business and Head of Legal. Capturing and developing insights into market positions on key contractual risks and liaising with the wider Legal team to ensure internal legal guidance remains up to date and in line with those insights. Working closely with our Head of Legal to ensure visibility of key risks at the earliest opportunity and development of a risk mitigation strategy. Providing direction to the pre-construction teams as to governance requirements on tenders including business stream and group Delegated Authorities and referrals to internal tender committees. What are we looking for? This role of Legal Counsel is great for you if you have: Junior to mid-level Solicitor/Barrister admitted to England & Wales or passed QLTs Knowledge and experience in construction law - contentious and non-contentious experience helpful but not essential. Good knowledge of Building Safety Act 2022 and related statutory legislation. Previous experience in JCT and NEC forms of contract. A commercially minded approach and able to articulate complex legal concepts in simple, commercial language. Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills to be able to manage several active matters simultaneously whilst able to strategically prioritise business critical matters. Excellent relationship builder at all levels of seniority.
