Job summary Treetops SARC provides support, advice, and forensic medical examination services for people of all ages who have experienced rape or sexual assault throughout Hampshire & the IoW. The service is based in a new, purpose designed and refurbished building in Fareham, Hampshire. Open 24/7, 365(6) days/year, and staffed by on-call crisis workers and sexual offence examiners out of hours. Sexual offences are devastating crimes; the impact of sexual violence can include significant consequences to the long-term health and well-being of patients. In the aftermath of an assault all patients, regardless of age or gender, should have access to a timely, high-quality forensic medical examination to address their concerns, minimise trauma and aid & support their recovery. Treetops SARC provides dedicated services for the health and well-being of patients that includes forensic medical examinations providing both the police and the patient with the best possible opportunity to recover evidence for use within an investigation, if the patient so chooses, and minimises the risk of a miscarriage of justice. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required to exclude any individual with a history of criminal behaviour, which could be considered unacceptable. In addition to a DBS check, Hampshire Police vetting for Non-Police Personnel will be required, thus the postholder must have been in the UK for at least three consecutive years at the point of application. Interview date: 28/03/2025 Main duties of the job To follow clear work instructions to direct referrals appropriately. To work with the SARC Manager to ensure the SARC Single Point Of Contact (SPOC) telephone line is staffed at all times while the SARC office is open, including Saturdays. To coordinate children and young peoples attendances at SARC with Community Paediatric Medical Services (CPMS), police, social care and SARC colleagues. To initiate safeguarding and other referrals as appropriate for children and young people. To support secretarial and administrative support functions for the wider Sexual Health and HIV Service as required. Plan and support the arrangement of appointments and strategy meetings for child clients of the SARC. Ensure that calls are answered in a timely manner and any issues with telephony are escalated rapidly to ensure that there are no breaks in service availability. Establish and maintain links with CPMS colleagues across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to ensure joined up care of victims is in place. Perform other tasks and duties commensurate with the role banding as delegated by the SARC Manager - Clinical Lead. Maintain accurate records of client cases and enquiries on the patient record system and/or hard copy records. Collate & compile data as required. Undertake survey and audits as necessary to own work.
