Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join our dynamic team in Dunfermline. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget, supporting both our fabrication operations and our site and shutdown services. You will work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and finance to monitor project budgets, forecast costs, and identify any financial risks or variances.
Key Responsibilities
* Cost Management: Monitor, control, and report on project costs, ensuring alignment with budgeted objectives and alerting the team to any discrepancies.
* Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop, maintain, and update project budgets and financial forecasts, providing detailed analysis to support decision-making.
* Reporting: Generate regular cost reports, dashboards, and financial summaries for management review, highlighting any trends, variances, and corrective actions.
* Risk Analysis: Identify cost risks early in the project lifecycle and work with project managers to develop mitigation strategies.
* Variance Analysis: Investigate any discrepancies between actual and forecasted costs, recommending corrective actions where necessary.
* Collaborative Support: Liaise with project management, procurement, and finance teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and documentation for each project phase.
* Project Close-Out: Conduct final project cost reconciliations, preparing close-out reports to support continuous improvement.
Skills and Qualifications
* Proven experience in cost control, preferably within engineering, fabrication, or industrial services.
* Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail and ability to work with large data sets.
* Proficiency in cost control software and advanced Excel skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across departments.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and adapt to evolving project needs.
* Knowledge of project management methodologies and cost control best practices.
* Degree in Finance, Engineering, or a related field is desirable, although equivalent experience will be considered.
