The Role:
The school is looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable DT Food Technology Teacher to deliver engaging and high-quality lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop essential cooking skills, an understanding of nutrition, and a passion for food technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons in line with the national curriculum
Teach a range of topics, including nutrition, food preparation, and health & safety in the kitchen
Support and challenge students to reach their full potential, adapting teaching strategies as needed
Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and targeted support
Ensure a safe and hygienic working environment in the food technology room
Contribute to the development of the DT and Food Technology curriculum
Participate in extracurricular activities, such as cookery clubs or competitions
Essential Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant experience teaching DT Food Technology in a secondary school setting
Experience teaching across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Strong subject knowledge and a passion for food technology and nutrition
An up-to-date DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
Excellent communication and classroom management skills
A commitment to inspiring students and fostering a love for food technology
Desirable Skills & Experience:
Experience with GCSE and A-Level Food Technology delivery
Knowledge of different teaching strategies to engage a diverse range of learners
Familiarity with exam board specifications and assessment criteria
Ability to contribute to whole-school healthy eating and sustainability initiatives
