Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* Assist in the daily operations of a busy Transactional Finance Department.
* Address supplier queries, resolving issues efficiently.
* Develop skills to provide cover for staff absences, especially during month and year-end.
* Ensure Capital, Project, and Grant Expenditure is correctly coded and authorised.
* Help ensure student-facing staff receive items/services on time and at the best value.
* Run reports and prepare supplier payment runs.
* Support and monitor supplier ledgers, reconciling and addressing issues as needed.
* Provide cross-cover for bursary payments, bank payments, and invoice posting.
* Manage finance emails promptly, escalating issues where necessary.
* Support the Finance Counter, addressing in-person and phone queries.
* Perform ad hoc duties as required.

* Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
* Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
* Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
* Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
* Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
* Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan
The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated work based trainer who will provide support and guidance throughout the course. This Apprenticeship requires attendance for classroom based sessions once per week at the Grimsby Institute Campus, Nuns Corner, Grimsby, DN345AB.
