Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit a highly motivated, flexible and enthusiastic Mechanical Maintenance Assistant to join our multi-skilled Estates team providing operational maintenance services to a large acute hospital and associated properties.
You will be a keen and enthusiastic team member with recognised plumbing and water safety experience and qualifications within a complex building services environment.

This post is to join part of the Maintenance Team of Kettering General Hospital who provides maintenance services, both planned and reactive, for the properties belonging to the Hospital.
The main role for this post holder will be to undertake planned preventative maintenance tasks and reactive jobs ensuring the trust complies with statutory and mandatory compliance.
The post holder is expected to provide a comprehensive repair and maintenance service for Mechanical Engineering systems and installations in all buildings occupied and operated by the Hospital.
The post holder will carry out necessary maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the Mechanical engineering services and the building plant located in the Trust.
The post holder will undertake specific maintenance tasks and will carry out maintenance and repairs across a wide range of interconnected highly complex plant and equipment, reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor.
The post holder will be working to established Mechanical engineering procedures, good practice, organisational and broad occupation policies. Often working to measured standards and procedures which require specific training; in first line response situations the post holder will need to establish how such policies can be implemented.
The Estates Department is currently looking for three applicants to be able to cover two shift patterns from Mon-Thu 08:00 till 16:30 and Fri 08:00 till 16:00.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* A qualification in plumbing/mechanical services e.g. NVQ level 2
* GCSE Maths Grade C or above
* GCSE English Grade C or above
Experience
* Good understanding of the mechanical maintenance of buildings services.
* Good knowledge of Health and Safety issues in connection with the Construction Industry.
* Minimum of 5 years plumbing or mechanical work experience.
* Experience of working within a customer-focused repairs and maintenance service.
* Experience of working in a team and in a commercial environment.
* Experience of working with a range of portable tools, small plant, ladders and equipment to enable duties of the job to be carried out.
* Experience working in the NHS maintenance setting.
Skills
* Ability to record detailed and accurate repairs information relating to repair inspections or completed repair jobs.
* Able to use mobile electronic equipment (handhelds).
* Able to participate in the repairs and maintenance out-of-hours emergency service when required.
* Capable of working at heights from scaffold platforms, ladders or mechanical equipment.
* Able to carry out a repair job or improvement task that involves physical strength, stamina and standing, kneeling or crouching.
* Must hold a current valid driving licence.
