Position Overview
To carry out maintenance activities to equipment, site processes & services in-line with manufacturers / legal recommended interval & standards. Ensuring that the service supplied is to the highest possible standard & fits with production needs & requirements. The Maintenance Technician should promote the use of best-practice maintenance system tool, machine set up and techniques, ensuring they are applied in a safe way. Complies to all H&S requirements & benefits the company performance in the areas of Quality, Cost and Delivery. Actively support continuous improvement & safety activities.
Essential Job Functions/ Responsibilities
1. To provide & oversee maintenance / repair of the sites processes, services & equipment in alignment with production & management needs.
2. To support the production team in the changing over and set up of all machinery.
3. Support the production team in the application of TPM & PPM activities.
4. Ensure all paperwork completed in line with the maintenance process/system is accurate & legible.
5. Positively support & drive continuous improvement culture through the production areas.
6. Support Risk Assessments & all H&S improvement activities.
7. Assist with the installation of new plant/process installation.
8. Be responsive to support production needs for maintenance & breakdown repair in line with priorities set by the Production Manager/Supervision.
9. Support & carry out operator training as required.
10. Support & follow the maintenance spares system/stores.
11. Actively participate in all continuous improvement activities/initiatives & Kaizen events. Proactively identify & make recommendations for improvements.
12. Sharing experience, best practice, relaying all relevant knowledge & information with colleagues.
13. Actively support Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) & all assigned (Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) required.
14. Demonstrate good housekeeping.
15. Ensure PPE is maintained & used as prescribed.
16. Be flexible in approach to work to support the production needs, be able to work shift & cover overtime when required.
Qualifications
1. Time served apprenticeship with practical experience (minimum 5 years post completion of apprenticeship) in a manufacturing environment packaging/FMCG/automotive.
2. Minimum C&G craft qualification - mechanical or mechanical/electric. Target ONC mechanical or mechanical/electric qualifications.
3. PC literate.
4. PLC & Pneumatics control experience.
5. Good communication skill & attitude.
6. Practical approach to modern problem-solving tools & techniques.
7. Five Years' experience as a maintenance technician in a packaging/automotive/FMCG working environment.
8. Qualification HNC in mechanical engineering or Mech/Elec.
9. Knowledge/experience of mechanical/electrical PLC & Pneumatic systems.
10. Experience in lean manufacturing/continuous improvement techniques & tools 5s, Kaizen etc.
11. 17th/18th Edition wiring regulations.
12. Experience of statistical process control (SPC) & modern problem-solving tools techniques.
13. Supervisory experience in a 'lean culture' manufacturing environment.
14. Broad knowledge of equipment types: - packaging & processing.
15. Awareness of modern technology.
16. Good communication skills & attitude.
17. Team player.
18. Flexible - able to work shifts & cover overtime when required.
19. Competent & self-motivated.
20. Leadership Skills.
21. Awareness & experience of modern improvement tools & techniques.
22. Data handling/PC skills.
23. Able to work under pressure to achieve tight delivery schedules.
24. Wide maintenance/engineering experience in a selection of modern 'lean cultured' manufacturing environments.
