Supporting or lead Nuclear SafetyEngineering activities for the Astute and Dreadnought programme,including resolution of emergent issues during the Build andCommission of the Naval Reactor Plant using application of commonSafety Engineering techniques whereappropriate Act as the Intelligent Customerfor documentation, advice, services concerning the Naval ReactorPlant and safety case provided to the company Developing sound technical solutions to issues arisingduring construction and commissioning of the Naval ReactorPlant Authoring inputs to the Office ofthe Chief Engineer advising on the compliance of the “as built”Naval Reactor Plant against design, build and commissioningrequirements in support of entry in nuclear buildphases Carry out nuclear safetyassessment of the impact of changes to, and deviations from, theNaval Reactor Plant design intent Liaising with both internal andexternal customers as required ensuring that their requirements areadequately supported and that their needs are fully considered andincorporated where appropriate and agreed
Yourskills and experiences:
Essential:
* Degree level qualification (orequivalent) in a relevant subject such as Engineering of PhysicalScience
Understanding of the design,build, commissioning, and operation of Reactor Plantsystems Demonstrable competence oftechnical report writing
Desirable:
* Engineering experience in designand build of systems, including and understanding of the role thatsafety and quality play
Ability to lead engineeringinvestigations, including Root Cause Analysis The ability to constructivelychallenge and influence others, whilst putting forward clear,concise and credible reasoning to supportjudgements

The PNED team: This role offers you the opportunity to gain in-depthknowledge of the Naval Reactor Plant for both the Astute Class andDreadnought Class of submarines. The role also provides a rareopportunity to be involved in a broad range of the EngineeringLifecycle for a Naval Reactor Plant, from Engineering DesignReviews through to build, test and commissioning activities,including but not limited to, resolution of emergent issuesproviding support to the wider PNED teams.
