Central Chemical Supplies Ltd (CCS) is looking for a Technical Manager to join our team. As technical manager you will be directly responsible for Quality control, Compliance and Product will also be expected to assist other areas of the business to help CCS to grow and develop. About CCS CCS distributes and manufacturers a wide range of chemical products for various industries in the UK and Ireland. This includes Agri-food, building, detergent/hygiene, metal treatment, textiles and water treatment. Job Details The job will be based at CCS (Donaghcloney). Working week: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am-4pm Job Type: Full time permanent. Salary: £40,000 per annum (with annual reviews) CCS also offers a free independent annual health check to employees. Key Responsibilities Quality Control Collect and analyse samples and record results of various parameters (concentration, pH, density, viscosity etc.) Ensure product quality isnt compromised at any stage. Guarantee traceability for all products e.g. record and batch incoming products, print haz-chem labels with associated batch number. Complete certificate of analysis and send to customers where required. Supplier assessments. Regular reviews of internal and external processes and QC documentation. Compliance Ensure CCS is compliant with all relevant legislation such as REACH, CLP, BPR, Tied Oils etc. Regular duties include, Safety Data Sheet generation, development of haz-chem labels, biocidal product applications. Work with operations director to review and update and implement Health and Safety policy on a regular basis. For example, SOPs, COSHH, incident reporting, site safety assessments. Assist with staff training. Implement ISO standards where appropriate and conduct annual internal audits, calibration, incident and non-conformance reporting. Complete annual reviews (or more frequent if required) to ensure documentation is regularly reviewed and updated. Product Development Work with sales team and management to regularly review new product development priorities. Be able to plan and manage full life cycle of product development from concept to market offering including feasibility studies. Carry out ad hoc product development for when requested e.g. formulation amendments/ continuous improvements. Review market trends and product developments to report back to sales team and management. Offer technical support to sales team and customers when necessary. Liaise with suppliers for technical queries and new product sourcing. General Manage and oversee laboratory staff. Attend and report to CCS monthly management meetings. Work closely with other managers in the business to aid planning and provide high levels of customer service. Keep laboratory and equipment clean and tidy. Manage stock levels for laboratory e.g. reagents and labels. Preparation of samples for customers and yard. Assist in the operation of chemical plant where required. Skills and experience required Qualified to a degree standard in Chemistry or closely related field. At least 3 years practical laboratory experience. Good IT skills. Previous experience in a management role. Good communication skills (oral and written). Excellent organisational and management skills. Able to work on own and as part of a team. Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot. Previous experience dealing with chemical regulatory matters. Demonstrate a technical ability to develop new products. Experience in formulation chemistry.
