Sheridan Maine are working exclusively with a leading client near Bournemouth, to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to join their business and support with their growth plans.
As the Financial Controller for a diverse group of companies, we are seeking a candidate with experience in the SME engineering or manufacturing sector. You will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations for the group, requiring a strong background in accounting and finance. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, ensure compliance, and provide strategic insights to the group leadership team.
Key areas of responsibility for the Financial Controller:
1. Manage a small team and having oversight of all accounting operations, including; Management Accounts, AR/AP, GL, Cost & Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
2. Coordinate and direct the preparation of Budgets, Financial forecasts, and Variance reports.
3. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements to the Group Leadership Team.
4. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
5. Monitor quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
6. Identify and manage financial risks and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
7. Ensure compliance with legal reporting requirements and tax filings, and research technical accounting issues to maintain compliance.
8. Support with the month-end and year-end close processes.
9. Additional duties as required.
Experience and Skills required in this role:
10. Qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA Accountant.
11. Proven working experience as a Financial Controller or within a similar role.
12. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
13. Excellent communcation skills.
14. Proficiency in accounting software and Advanced Excel.
15. Capable of working as a team leader, able to motivate and support as needed.
