Shape exceptional learning experiences through expert organisation and dynamic leadership About the role Role type: Fixed term residential Dates: For course dates between start of July and middle of August 2025 Working pattern: Saturday to Saturday, up to 55 hours per week on a shift pattern with overnight duties. 1 day off per week. Reports to: Deputy Course Director The Academic Lead is a senior member of the on-site team, responsible for the academic operations for junior students aged 9–12 or 12-14. This role involves overseeing communication between the head office academic team and on-site tutors, ensuring classrooms are prepared, and adapting and delivering curriculum enrichment sessions based on provided plans. Additionally, as a key member of the senior team, the Academic Lead will step in to assist with pastoral and residential duties as needed. Main duties Tutor liaison - Acting as the primary contact between the head office academic team and on-site tutors to ensure effective communication and collaboration. Classroom setup - Ensuring rooms are appropriately equipped for lessons, promoting an environment conducive to learning. Curriculum enrichment - Reviewing and adapting session plans to suit the needs of the students and delivering engaging academic experiences. Academic quality - Addressing any subject-related issues, providing support to tutors and ensuring high academic standards. Collaboration: Working with other staff to foster a positive and enriching academic environment for students. Welfare - Assisting with pastoral care, ensuring the wellbeing of students. Residential duties - Up to 10 hrs per week, as part of the residential team including morning registrations, meal time supervision, curfew checks and overnight phone duty. About you You’re an experienced leader with a passion for education. You’re able to engage academic teams, fostering a collaborative environment and promoting effective teamwork. You can adapt curriculum plans to meet the needs of young learners. You’re comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic educational setting. Essential Experience of overseeing academic programs or similar roles in an educational setting. Clear evidence of delivering and adapting curriculum content effectively, with a strong understanding of best practices in teaching and learning. Proven ability to lead teams and promote a positive, collaborative work environment. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail in managing academic responsibilities. Right to work in the UK (we cannot sponsor work visas for this role) Desirable Knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN) practices and the ability to adapt communication and support strategies to meet diverse student needs effectively. Experience working in international or multicultural environments. Familiarity with summer school programs or short-term educational settings.
