About H7, Heathrow
The H7 framework encompasses airfield works (taxiways, runways, stands), civils (roads, demolition works, underground and above-ground structures), and MEP packages (services tunnels, lifts, life safety systems, fuel/fire mains).
The Role
The Design Engineer will report directly to the Design Manager, working closely with the Project Manager and liaising with the Client, Design Consultants, and other stakeholders. The role involves ensuring timely and budget-compliant design delivery, adhering to quality, health, safety, wellbeing, and sustainability standards. The engineer will also manage the design contract, including changes, risks, and opportunities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize new technologies, tools, and software in construction to innovate the project.
Key Responsibilities
* Tendering design packages based on client project briefs, understanding scope, and negotiating offers.
* Agreeing on the Design Responsibility Matrix with all project parties to ensure clarity and coverage.
* Coordinating the design team to complete the design within budget and schedule.
* Monitoring and tracking design progress, managing slippages, and interfacing with management.
* Defining and managing design interfaces.
* Leading design reviews with stakeholders.
* Exploring and implementing value engineering opportunities.
* Collaborating with procurement to ensure financial compliance and defining scopes for subcontracting.
* Ensuring design compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
* Supporting audits with the Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental teams.
* Engaging with client representatives on design development.
* Reviewing and approving consultants' monthly payment applications.
* Assisting the Design Manager with team management, resource planning, performance, and employee development.
