About the Role/Role Overview As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and supporting students in the absence of their regular classroom teachers. Working primarily with students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, you will ensure that lesson plans are followed, students stay engaged and classroom behaviour is effectively managed. Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor (CS): Supervise classes during the absence of the class teacher, ensuring that students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 remain on task and continue their learning in a focused manner. Ensure effective behaviour management within the classroom, adhering to the school's policies on student behaviour and ensuring a positive learning environment. Monitor student progress, providing assistance to students when needed and encouraging their engagement with the subject matter. Support individual students or small groups who may need extra help with their tasks or require further explanation of the lesson content. Enforce the school's policies regarding uniforms, behaviour and attendance, promoting a culture of respect and responsibility within the school. Communicate with the school staff about students’ progress, behavioural concerns, or other issues that may arise during your supervision period. Provide academic support where needed, assisting students with activities to further their understanding of the lesson. Requirements of the Cover Supervisor (CS): To be considered for this role, you must have: Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or working with young people in an educational setting. Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring that students stay engaged with the lesson and complete their work. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff alike. Confidence in supervising classes and providing additional support to students when required. An enthusiasm for education, with a willingness to learn and develop in a school environment. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
