To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role, within the bounds of his/her own competence as guided by the attached management framework. To work across the various MMP sites as required. In light of national policy and due to the needs of the business, it may be necessary for the Partnership to alter the opening hours of the surgeries. This could incorporate different opening hours and weekend working which may affect when you are required to work.
The post holder is expected to be flexible and accommodating, following consultation, in terms of any changes to operating times in the future. Responsibilities include:
1. Undertaking appropriate tasks and support the larger MMP healthcare team.
2. Blood Pressure monitoring in accordance with MMP protocols.
3. Performing ECGs on patients as requested.
4. Carrying out phlebotomy services to patients in MMP surgeries across Birmingham, at patients' homes, and in care homes.
5. Ensuring that blood samples taken are accurately and legibly labelled, correct bottles are used, and that blood samples are transported to designated collection points in line with MMP Health and Safety procedures.
6. Providing support at practice level to nursing and clinical staff, particularly in complex cases.
7. Working effectively with other healthcare professionals as an integrated team.
8. Providing basic first aid to phlebotomy patients as required in accordance with guidelines and procedures.
9. Ensuring a good rapport with patients to alleviate anxiety, ensuring they are relaxed and at ease to undergo procedures.
10. Following MMP Policies: Infection Control Policy, Clinical Waste Disposal and Sharps Policy, Needle stick injury Policy.
11. Acknowledging that patients have the right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality, showing due regard to patients' property.
12. Providing cover for team members on annual leave, off sick, or study leave to ensure continuity of the service.
13. Acting as a role model to ensure health is promoted at every opportunity in all settings.
14. Maintaining written and computer records as required.
15. Attending team meetings for information exchange and service updates.
16. Working at any MMP site in line with service needs.
17. Undertaking training and development to meet the specific service needs of the service and own individual practice.
18. Participating in the appraisal, clinical supervision, and personal development planning process to ensure that their own professional development needs are met.
19. Participating in the induction of staff by demonstrating their own role to new or less experienced colleagues.
