The role
As a learning support assistant, you will be required to support pupils with additional needs to promote their learning and development in a school for pupils with generic learning difficulties that provides high quality education for girls and boys aged 2 to 11 years from Preston and the surrounding areas. The learning support assistant’s role is to provide general classroom support whilst delivering high-quality interventions, whether in small groups or on a 1:1 basis. You will need to be able to handle high-pressure situations calmly and professionally while nurturing each pupil's needs. Qualifications such as GCSE or A-Level or equivalent are required, and relevant qualifications to the job are desirable but not mandatory.
The school
This specialist school is based in Preston. The class sizes are small, with between 6-10 pupils per class. All children have an EHC and have additional needs that require further support both in their learning and overall development. While they do require extra support, the school promotes its pupils to become independent learners in an environment where all pupils' efforts and achievements can be celebrated. The school prioritizes communication and positive relationships, promoting close working relationships with their children’s families.
* Full-time hours Monday – Friday
* Competitive hourly rate of pay
* Start date ASAP
* No specific qualifications or school experience required, but it is desirable.
