We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our supportive team at a vibrant mainstream primary school in Southampton. In this exciting role, you will not only support students but also take on the responsibility of teaching the class in the absence of the class teacher. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality support to students across KS1 and KS2, ensuring their academic progress. Take responsibility for teaching the class in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning across key stages. Provide small group or one-to-one teaching sessions tailored to individual learning needs. Work closely with class teachers to plan and implement lesson plans, learning activities, and assessments. Assist in the management of classroom behavior and create an inclusive, positive learning environment. Help monitor and track students' progress, offering feedback and support to both students and teachers. Act as a role model, demonstrating high standards of professionalism and supporting the emotional and social development of students. Requirements Level 4 Childcare qualification and/or HLTA-specific qualification. Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA within a mainstream primary school setting (KS1 and KS2). Experience in taking on teaching responsibilities, with a strong understanding of the primary curriculum and effective teaching strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. A proactive, positive approach with a passion for supporting children’s learning and development. Desirable Previous experience working with students with additional needs. First aid qualification or willingness to undertake training.
