BBC Radio Suffolk is looking for a creative Community Producer who delivers inspiring content.
Broadcasting from our studios in Ipswich, located in the heart of one of the most diverse parts of town, BBC Radio Suffolk tells the stories of the people of Suffolk on radio and our digital platforms.
We’re looking for someone who is great at enabling others to tell their stories on-air, online, through social media and on TV, and who can make content that will surprise our audience. Most of all you’ll love the radio station and be able to demonstrate that you understand and can talk to our audience.
This is a great opportunity to work in one of the best places in the country with a highly talented team.
Main Responsibilities
You’ll work closely with programme teams and presenters to create outstanding content for our audiences. As well as recognising digital opportunities to help our content travel further.
You will play a key role in finding and developing interesting stories from all walks of life in all corners of the county. You’ll develop partnerships with communities and design and implement a series of outreach projects which tell the stories of audiences we don’t currently cater for.
You’ll work on some major projects including supporting our Make A Difference Awards and our Christmas Carol Concert. You will support our effort to be part of hard to reach groups and organisations in Suffolk connecting with them, making them feel supported, respected, celebrated and that they have a voice.
Are you the right candidate?
* You’ll need an extensive knowledge of the communities in Suffolk, with lots of ideas about how we can work with organisations and groups to highlight their work and to set up campaigns which will make an impact on air and in the community.
* We’re looking for someone with great editorial judgement, who can spot a story and turn it into creative radio and digital content.
* You’ll need experience of project and event management and be able to see an idea through from conception to delivery.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to establish new relationships are a must.
* You’ll have significant journalism and radio programming experience.
