What you will do in your working day
As a member of the team your duties will include:
Basic preparation of vehicles and tools for the day.
Listen to team briefing, risk assessment.
Play a role in health and safety management.
Process tree work arisings using various tools/machinery.
Operate machinery and tools at height.
Tree pruning and felling
Tree planting
Operating diggers, stump grinders, loaders.
Liaise with clients and public
Learning tree names.
Extraction of tea/coffee from less than willing clients.
Take part in team meetings and additional learning when required.
Smile even when it is raining.
Understanding that we think trees are cool and nobody else will
understand why.
The training you will be getting
Qualifications achieved:
● Level 2 award in felling and processing trees up to 380mm
● Level 2 award in accessing a tree using a rope and harness
● Level 3 award in aerial tree rescue operations
● Level 3 award in aerial cutting of trees using free fall techniques
● Level 2 award in safe use of mobile elevated work platform
● Level 3 award in use of a chainsaw from a Mobile Elevated Work
Platform (MEWP)
● Level 2 award in emergency first aid at work
● Level 2 award in safe use of brushwood chipper
● Traffic Management (NRSWA Unit 002 Signing, Lighting and
Guarding) OR Sector Scheme 12D
● Level 2 award in chainsaw maintenance
● Level 2 award in cross cutting timber using a chainsaw
Level 2 Arborist apprenticeship.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
Full time position within the team. Further training into more specialist roles.
