We are excited to be advertising for a full time band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the Neurodiversity Pathway within Exeter and East locality. This is an exciting time to join CFHD and to be a part of a newly forming team offering some limited intervention and undertaking clinical assessments.
Main duties of the job
1. Hold an appropriate caseload and undertake a lead clinician role for children receiving intervention from within the specialist pathway.
2. Undertake specialist assessments, including risk assessments, contribute to care planning and deliver evidence-based interventions in collaboration with children, young people and their carers.
3. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team offering evidence-based interventions.
4. Provide a range of early help/light touch interventions across pathways such as emotional health and well-being, sensory issues, positive behavioural support.
5. Work across pathways and geographical areas as required, according to need and demand.
6. Supervise, manage and support integrated therapy assistants.
7. Ensure clinical effectiveness through the use of evidence-based interventions, goal-based, collaborative practice and routine outcome measures.
Person specification
Qualification
* Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
* Full Registration with Health Professions Council
* Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
* Membership of relevant Special Interest Groups
* Evidence of successful completion of specialist post graduate short courses relating to paediatric communication disorders including Learning Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorders
Knowledge and Experience
* Highly developed specialist knowledge to enable post holder to work autonomously
* In depth knowledge of children with special needs and associated conditions underpinned by current evidence-based practice
* Relevant experience at undergraduate/post graduate level
* Proven relevant experience post qualification in managing a complex varied caseload and in working autonomously in the community
* Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams
* Experience working in early years, school age and specialist settings
