Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain the council's Health and Safety Management System to ensure compliance with legislation. Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and audits to identify and address potential hazards. Investigate accidents and incidents, producing detailed reports with actionable recommendations. Deliver tailored health and safety training programs to employees and contractors. Provide expert advice to council leadership, employees, and contractors on health and safety policies and best practices. Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, including Fire Risk Assessments and follow-up actions. Collaborate with stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies to foster a strong safety culture. Prepare reports and updates for committees and senior management. Qualifications and Skills Required NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent. Chartered or Technical Membership of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health). Proven experience in a senior health and safety role within the public sector or similar environment. Knowledge and practical experience with fire safety compliance and risk assessments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders. Experience delivering training and managing compliance systems.
