We have an opportunity for a Medical Secretary to join their team of staff in the Administration department. This is a Full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.
Duties Of This Role Include
1. Provide dedicated secretarial support to one or more consultants, including diary management, clinic preparation, and transcription of clinical correspondence.
2. Type letters, reports, and medical documentation from audio dictation or handwritten notes with a high level of accuracy.
3. Liaise with patients to confirm appointments, investigations, admissions, and follow-up arrangements.
4. Act as a point of contact for patient queries, delivering a professional and compassionate service at all times.
5. Manage consultants' diaries, including scheduling outpatient clinics, theatre lists, and meetings.
6. Maintain accurate patient records, including uploading correspondence to electronic health records or paper files as needed.
7. Prepare and process consultant invoices and ensure accurate billing for private patients in collaboration with finance teams.
Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria
1. Proven experience in a medical secretarial or administrative role within a healthcare setting.
2. Excellent typing and transcription skills, including experience with audio dictation. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical correspondence formatting.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and patient-centred approach.
4. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office and healthcare systems (e.g., PAS, EPR, Dictation software).
6. Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy clinical environment.
7. AMSPAR qualification or equivalent in medical secretarial studies.
