Residential Support Worker – Children Homes - Ipswich
Job Description:
We seek caring, compassionate, and enthusiastic Support Workers to join our team.
About the Role:
We aim to provide specialised quality care for children and young people, aged 13 – 18 years. The primary role of our support workers is to make a difference in the lives of the young people residing in our homes. You will work on goals to assist them in living a happy and fulfilled life and one that teaches independence, promotes education, and ensures their health and well-being. We believe in engaging Young People in all aspects and decisions in their lives; by working together, we enable them to be in control of their future.
You’ll work with a tight-knit team of colleagues to build a relationship and trust bond with the young person living at the home. You’ll be supporting them in overcoming their previous trauma and learning to trust in adults again, along with the help and guidance of your colleagues.
Shift patterns:
Shift patterns are flexible and do vary based on the need of the home. Our usual shifts can include 8 am-5 pm or 8 am-11 pm. We do require staff to be available and cover sleep-in shifts, which is for a maximum of three per week unless you wish to pick up extra sleep.

Essential:

* You are able to keep accurate records, carrying out all recording and reporting in a person-centered, factual manner.
* You work safely and ensure contractual and regulatory compliance so our young people can trust, feel safe, and have confidence in the support we provide.
* Willingness to attend training and further your knowledge.
* Good communication and written skills, fluent in English.
* Positive, with a problem-solving approach to challenging situations.
* Reliable, with good timekeeping.
* Confident with lone working.
Desirable:
* Experience in working with young people/social care.
* Experience lone working with young people.
* A basic knowledge of Ofsted.
* Qualification in Childcare, e.g., NVQ.
