Building on the support we already provide in our communities, Northern Powergrid is excited to be setting up a brand new Community Energy Team. We have ambitious plans as part of our current price control period, which runs until 2028, to deliver targeted support in communities and make the energy transition fair. Our Community Energy Team will provide targeted support to community energy groups and projects across our region, helping them to unlock the maximum benefits for their communities. They will also identify our most vulnerable communities and reach out to help them access the benefits community energy projects and other forms of support can bring. All this will help us to ensure that we are driving a just transition to net zero. We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented individual to help us drive forward on these plans. We are looking for a candidate who can help us to deliver tangible outcomes for communities and drive forwards our support for new projects. This role is the administrative and engagement function of the Community Energy Team. The successful candidate will process requests from community organisations, including community energy groups, to ensure that Northern Powergrid provides excellent customer service in response to queries and requests for support. You will attend engagement events, including Northern Powergrid’s Community Energy Forum, monitoring learnings and feeding these back into the business via internal governance processes. You will also take a key role in developing the literature and resources used to promote Northern Powergrid’s energy support initiatives and driving uptake of the PSR, fuel poverty advice, home decarbonisation advice and community energy support. You would be joining the Vulnerability team in the Customer Services Directorate, who are passionate about what they do. Key responsibilities: • Support the Community Energy Project Advisor and Community Energy Outreach Advisor to process requests, queries and administrative tasks in relation to the community energy programme • Attend regular engagement events, record findings and provide post-event summaries to feed learnings into the business • Facilitate connections between community organisations and relevant internal NPg staff • Develop and disseminate literature and resources to promote NPg’s energy support initiatives • Oversee the advertising of NPg’s Net Zero Community Energy Fund • Develop strategies to drive engagement with and recruitment to the PSR, in particular in communities that have been identified as particularly vulnerable What qualifications and experience should you have? • Strong communication skills and experience of working with a range of stakeholders • Excellent people skills • Experience of building community-level partnerships • Good IT skills • Good collaboration and team working skills Desirable qualifications and experience: • Knowledge or experience of energy advice • Knowledge and experience of developing engaging literature What next?
