R&D Technician – Norwich
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Research and Development (R&D) Technician to join our team, supporting global engineering functions. This role is essential in testing and characterising capacitors and other electronic components, working closely with our R&D, New Product Introduction (NPI), and Manufacturing teams .
Based at my Client's R&D Centre in Norwich, you will contribute to the development of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) and other electronic components, collaborating with my Client's global manufacturing sites.
This position plays a key role in providing technical support for R&D projects while ensuring compliance with industry standards, including the IATF 16949 automotive standard .
Reporting To: R&D Project Manager
Key Responsibilities Collaborate with global R&D and NPI Engineering teams .
Conduct assembly and testing following written procedures and global standards.
Perform tests such as capacitance, insulation resistance, voltage proof, ESR, life testing (HALT), humidity testing (HAST), bend testing, and DPA (Destructive Physical Analysis) .
Handle high-voltage testing in a controlled environment (PPE and training provided).
Contribute to R&D activities for developing new test methods and processes.
Conduct failure analyses and report findings.
Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation.
Develop and improve procedures, work instructions, and testing processes .
Provide training and technical support where required.
Ensure tasks are completed to agreed schedules.
Carry out other duties as reasonably required.
Qualifications & Skills Strong mathematics and English skills.
A science or engineering background is advantageous.
Experience with laboratory and electronic test equipment is beneficial.
