Key Responsibilities:
* Reporting to the Senior Director of Projects in the Design and Technical Services department, the role will be based in Hong Kong to provide full technical support on new/renovation hotel projects.
* Serves as the key contact between owners and owner’s appointed consultants and Langham Hospitality Group regarding project management, planning and design and deliverables on a variety of project task forces to ensure that projects are executed in line with the associated brand and functional requirements defined.
* Leads and monitors project progress to ensure project goals are achieved according to the agreed budget, deliverables, and schedule.
* Prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously, and follows through on issues in a timely manner.
Technical Responsibilities:
* Provides design and project management in overseeing fitting-out renovation and new hotel projects in a hospitality group.
* Primarily focuses on architectural and interior design, and other design aspects related to hotel projects.
* Acts as key collaborative link within LHG in various disciplines including operation, brands, F&B, and spa. A key contact with Owner and the design & project management team within hotel projects in all stages including design, construction and implementation.
* Reviews and comments on new potential projects, and compiles space planning and full feasibility design analysis, where appropriate. Provides area program and design deck for new potential hotel projects recommendation.
Managerial Responsibilities:
* Supervises the work of project/design managers and coordinators working in the team.
* Compiles regular progress reports on the projects to the Senior Director.
Project/Design Management:
* Represents LHG and attends design review meetings with the Owner, project management team, and various design consultants.
* Ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders; strong interpersonal skills to relate well with direct supervisor and senior management.
* Reviews layout plans put together by the architect, and provides input from the hotel operator’s point of view, and compiles space planning for the whole hotel.
* Reviews and checks all plans and specifications, ensuring they align with operations and concepts appropriate for the intended brand and are designed to budget for that particular project, and in compliance with the Design Control Document of the brand.
* Works together with the architect, interior designer, and other design consultants employed by the Owner in working through the various disciplines of design for the whole hotel from concept to completion.
* Works together with our operations department and puts together the planning for the back-of-the-house areas, including space planning of the space.
* Keeps track and monitors the construction of the hotel, ensuring that all the design intents are reflected in the final construction, and all major and substantial changes made are recorded and acceptable to the future operator.
Reviews of Potential Projects:
* Reviews potential projects as brought in by the Development Department.
* Works with other colleagues within LHG to put together a space planning layout for various areas.
* Compiles Preliminary Area Program, together with image photo boards showing the design directions of the outlets and guest areas.
* Meets with owners of the potential projects.
Requirements:
Working Experience:
* At least 12 years of relevant work experience in hospitality and/or mixed-use development in architectural firms, interior design firms, property developers, or hospitality groups in a project and design management related capacity.
* Experience on hotel projects with good knowledge in hotel operation and planning pre-opening activities is definitely an advantage.
* Experience as a hotel representative managing hotel projects from inception to completion with proven ability to deliver projects on time and to the hotel brand and technical standards.
Education:
* University graduate in architecture, interior design, construction, or appropriate fields.
* Professional qualifications are preferred but not necessary.
Knowledge:
* Very sound knowledge of architectural and interior design, as well as good overall knowledge of hotel operation, BOH design, and engineering principles.
* Solid experience and proven track record of project or design management of hotel projects in delivering large fitting-out renovation projects and cross-functional collaboration on new build projects successfully.
* Creativity, with an emphasis on integrated, time and cost requirements-driven design solutions.
Soft Skills:
* Well organized and a good planner; self-motivated.
* Prompt and systematic decision-making skills with analytical power.
* Resourceful, strong business acumen, passionate about quality and possesses a strong desire to deliver results.
* Excellent communication skills; fluent in spoken and written English, Cantonese/Mandarin helpful.
* Good team player & able to develop sound working relationships with colleagues.
* Require traveling for overseas site meetings and site inspections.
* High standard of professionalism, integrity, dedication.
* Good computer skills, including MS Office Applications, AutoCAD, and Photoshop, are required.
