What about the Team?
You will be working as part of the senior leadership team within the Adult Social Care and Prevention directorate. This role is a service manager within our community social work service with a focus on neighbourhood-based social work support, utilizing the assets people, and their communities/neighbourhoods have.
You will also be responsible for our Occupational Therapy and Sensory Support Service delivery.

The Adult Social Care and Prevention Directorate is looking to appoint a qualified, dynamic, and skilled Social Work Service Manager to provide operational, strategic management, and leadership for our community social work teams and Occupational Therapy & Sensory Support service.
This is an exciting time to join Newcastle City Council and deliver first-class services to the people of the City. We seek someone with extensive social work managerial experience, committed to Newcastle’s three strategic principles: being fair, proud, and ambitious.
You will have experience in Adult Social care, with knowledge of Adult legislation, practice, and procedures.
You must be positive, committed to providing excellent support, and bring a comprehensive knowledge and skill set to support staff working with vulnerable adults, their families, and carers.
You will be highly effective at working within deadlines, accountable for service performance and development, responsible for budget management, and contribute to the directorate and council priorities by ensuring the delivery of quality, value-for-money services.
Candidates should have the determination, commitment, and social work value base to create positive outcomes for those you serve in the City.
You must hold a Social Work qualification or equivalent (e.g., MA or BA in Social Work, Dip SW CQSW, or CSS) and have a current registration with Social Work England.
