Hygiene Supervisor.
Schedule: Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights only, 6pm to 6am.
Salary: To c32k plus excellent benefits, 17 days holiday per annum.
PURPOSE:
To liaise with the Hygiene Manager and supervise the Hygiene Operation in all aspects of cleaning to ensure and maintain safe and hygienic conditions within the manufacturing environment and related areas. Implementation of daily/weekly and in-depth hygiene schedules, and organisation of contractor cleans. Monitoring cleaning results through visual microbiological analysis, by liaison with the technical team.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Liaise with the Hygiene Manager to manage the day-to-day cleaning requirements and report any issues.
2. Develop team skills to achieve multi-skilled hygiene teams.
3. Manage the day-to-day work and effectiveness of the Hygiene team across all shifts.
4. Organise the training of the Hygiene team and, where required, find/source suitable training resources.
5. Liaise, where appropriate, with the Shift Supervisor to prioritise production requirements.
6. Monitor cleaning schedules for adherence and improve/reschedule as necessary.
7. Oversee site security and secure site at shutdowns when required.
8. Supervise emergencies and site evacuations to ensure the safety of all staff on site.
9. Liaise with site contractors to maintain site security standards where appropriate.
10. Prioritise and delegate hygiene duties as appropriate.
11. Manage and change, where appropriate, staff shift patterns to ensure that production schedules/deadlines are met.
12. Implement and maintain Health & Safety requirements of the team.
13. Work to a high standard, ensuring attention to details to maintain and verify documented cleaning procedures.
14. Be reliable and conscientious to work alone or as part of a team.
15. Be flexible in terms of contractual hours.
16. Ensure that all hygiene-related documentation is completed and suggest/implement additional records for completeness where required.
17. Immediately report any machinery defects which may impact production schedules.
18. Assist in the development and training of new departmental employees where appropriate.
19. Control and monitor stocks and usage of consumables and cleaning detergents/sanitisers to control effective usage and cost.
20. Organise holidays with the team to ensure adequate hygiene cover over these holidays.
21. Monitor consumable stocks and reorder as required.
22. Create Cleaning Instruction Cards (CICs) and implement "sign-offs".
23. Audit CICs and working procedures.
24. Audit the manufacturing areas and implement extra hygiene resources where required.
25. Liaise with chemical suppliers.
26. Assist during customer visits and audits (experience of BRC would be advantageous).
27. Adopt a functional role in managing performance/absence management within the team.
FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
The Hygiene Supervisor will report to the Hygiene Manager and will also have a functional relationship with the following:
* Director of Production
* Director of Engineering
* Technical Manager
* Shift Supervisor
* Engineering Department
CORE ABILITY & EXPERIENCE:
1. Supervisory management skills – including absence and performance management.
2. Knowledge of Health & Safety within the working environment.
3. Manual Handling.
4. Communication skills to include verbal and written English.
5. Good timekeeping and attendance is essential.
6. Must be flexible with working hours to enable supervision across all shifts.
7. Knowledge of HACCP, COSHH, and Health & Safety.
8. BRC/Audit experience.
9. High level of attention to detail.
10. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make decisions.
