Reporting to the General Manager, you will:
1. Attended site visits to confirm measurements and produce fabrication drawings from those measurements.
2. Liaise competently with clients, engineers and architects to obtain and manage the flow of technical information on projects.
3. Ensure the correct drawings are produced in accordance with the design.
4. Ensure approval drawings are issued to meet client expectations and delivery dates.
5. Produce detailed and accurate fabrication drawings.
6. Liaise with production staff during fabrication to resolve any problems or technical queries.
7. Be responsible for the production of 3D CAD models.
8. Produce accurate quotations / take offs (steelwork materials, labour, equipment etc) if and when required.
Typical Sequence of Work
Tender Stage
9. Generate 3D models in collaboration with the estimating team. Take off for estimation.
Design Stage
10. Generate 3D models to both engineer and architect specifications.
11. Generate drawings for client and engineer approval.
12. Update drawings in conjunction with client & engineer comments.
Production Stage
13. All drawings to state the grade and sub grades of steel, finishes, weld sizes, weld symbols, WPS and any other relevant guidance notes for the fabricators from the approved drawings, calculations and specifications.
14. A3/A4 detailed fabrication and assembly drawings.
15. 3D isometric drawings showing member marks.
16. Full material lists; including bolt lists.
17. CNC output.
Experience and Skills:
18. Be computer literate with a great eye for detail.
19. Experience within the Construction and Structural Steelwork industries essential.
20. Understanding of steelwork fabrication / erecting techniques and be able to fully read and interpret working drawings.
21. Have an excellent attitude towards customer service.
22. Good numeracy skills.
23. Good personal communication skills (written and oral) in order to communicate confidently with engineers, clients, colleagues and suppliers.
24. Excellent knowledge of steel design & steel connection details.

25. Able to multitask and work under pressure.
26. Ability to manage a number of projects at any given time by prioritising projects based on site dates and production needs; even if it requires overtime to complete the work.
27. Have excellent telephone and face to face communication skills.
