Senior Dosimetrist External Beam Radiotherapy
The post-holder will be expected to have Registration or to undertake post-graduate development to enable registration with the relevant body, currently the Register of Clinical Technologists. Support will be provided across all relevant aspects of the syllabus to assist this aim in line with the IPEM RCT equivalence route.
Works with other Scientists and Technologists in the dosimetric verification of treatment machines, treatment planning and assessing patient dose, reporting any discrepancies immediately for further assessment.
Work independently within the Departmental Quality System. Provide technical dosimetry services across a number of work areas within Radiotherapy Physics.
There will be some requirement for flexible hours of working. If and when the Centre provides a wider regional service work may be required in the associated hospitals in the locality.
Main duties of the job
The post holder provides technical dosimetry services across a number of work areas within Radiotherapy Physics, primarily Dosimetry and Treatment Planning. Deployment will be according to service need and it is anticipated that work will cover more than one of these areas in a given period of time.
You will work independently within the Departmental Quality System, using procedures to guide your own work, taking initiative to solve options and referring to Supervisor when necessary.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* A degree in physics, medical physics, clinical technology, computer science, radiographic science or equivalent qualification.
* Eligibility for Clinical Registration (or equivalent).
* Evidence of training in dosimetry, brachytherapy and planning.
Experience
* Evidence of previous experience in relevant aspects relating to the dosimetrist role, i.e. Radiation Dosimetry Treatment Planning Brachytherapy.
* Experience of clinical activities related to Mould Room, CT-Simulator, linacs etc.
* Involvement in Linac commissioning.
Knowledge
* Theoretical information of the physician behind the treatment including the basic information for dosimetry, brachytherapy and treatment planning.
* Good knowledge of routine treatment methods for RT including the use of the Linac.
* Knowledge of the requirements of other disciplines (e.g. clinical oncology; radiobiology; radiotherapy; clinical radiotherapy).
* Anatomy & Physiology (especially cross-sectional images).
