Job Advertisement: ASC Teaching Assistant
Teaching Personnel is recruiting a compassionate and dedicated ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Wilmslow. This is a full-time position starting in January and running until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance.
About the Role:
As an ASC Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with Autism Spectrum Condition, helping them overcome barriers to learning and succeed in their academic and personal development. Your work will be vital in creating a positive and inclusive environment where every student feels supported and valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored one-to-one or small group support to students with ASC, helping them engage with learning activities.
- Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapting lesson materials to meet students' unique needs.
- Promote social, emotional, and academic development through consistent and empathetic support.
- Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to ensure strategies are effectively delivered in and out of the classroom.
- Manage challenging behaviors positively and proactively in line with the school's behavior policies.
- Support students during unstructured times, such as break and lunch, to encourage social interaction and confidence-building.
- Monitor student progress and communicate updates with the SENCO, teachers, and parents/carers.

What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working with children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition or other additional needs.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting students' well-being and academic success.
- Be adaptable, organized, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Have relevant qualifications or experience in a similar role (desirable but not essential).
- Be available full-time from January through to the end of the academic year.
