A 12 months fixed term position for a Dental Officer working in an award winning special care community dental service.

This fixed term post will include routine clinical and domiciliary care. Your patients will include children, young people and adults who require special care due to their possible learning and physical disabilities, mental health problems or medical conditions. You will also see anxious children age 6 and under. The service prides itself on providing outstanding quality care including treatment under inhalation and IV sedation as well as general anaesthetic.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based at the wonderful newly refurbished dental clinic at Cheshunt Community Hospital. The clinic has excellent sedation facilities as well as a sensory room for patients and offers consultant led special care dentistry for a variety of special needs children and adults.
There is also an exciting opportunity for a position within a brand new dental surgery at our clinic at Nevell's Road, Letchworth. Nevell's Road clinic offers rewarding and interesting work supporting many complex special care patients who are living in areas of high deprivation and experiencing health inequalities.
We will consider full time or part time with a minimum of 30 hours per week. Please note this is a fixed term position for 12 months.
Hertfordshire Special Care Dental Service was awarded outstanding in their last CQC inspection and with HCT communications team won the NHS elect national award for exemplary patient experience in 2019.

You must hold a full valid driving licence and have access to a car to use regularly for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
Job responsibilities
Role involves the provision of oral health care to priority groups including people with learning disabilities, physical difficulties/disabilities, mental health problems, medically compromised, homeless patients, and any other priority groups agreed with the commissioners. Services provided include sedation and general anaesthesia, domiciliary care and provision of oral health care.

Qualifications and Training
* Full registration with the GDC
* Evidence of commitment to continued professional and personal development
* Vocational Training Certificate / Number or Equivalence
Experience and Knowledge
* Planning and managing care including complex treatment planning
* Experience using inhalation sedation
* Experience of domiciliary care including complex treatment planning
* Experience of working in a variety of dental settings or dental teams
* Experience of involvement in service development and/or research
Skills and abilities
* Knowledge of a range of special care conditions
* Ability to work in a team and build and sustain partnerships to enhance team working.
* Experience of working with special care patients
