Job description
We have over 20 years experience in the food business, and currently produce a range of quality products for the retail and foodservice industry from seven high-tech factories.

As Specifications Technologist you will deliver product specifications and artwork that are accurate and completed on time, whilst ensuring that products are compliant with customer requirements and current legislation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Responsibility to ensure that all product specifications are completed accurately; compliant with customer policies; compliant with current legislation; and completed on time
* To ensure product artwork is accurate; compliant with current legislation; compliant with customer policies; updated to reflect any recipe amends
* Participate in customer/internal meetings regarding new product development/existing product development to provide an insight into ongoing projects i.e. raw materials that may not comply with customer policy; products that may have out of scope nutritional profiles (i.e. may not meet Salt FSA targets); any issues that may potentially jeopardise meeting the product launch date
* Completing Nutricalc for new product development/existing product development as and when required and provide a summary of the nutritional profile versus the brief i.e. HFSS
* To keep up-to-date with all current legislation relating to food labelling/nutrition profiling schemes and targets
* To write, process and approve product specifications involving frequent interaction with suppliers in relation to technical queries.
* To interact with customers on technical issues relating to a variety of specifications/material queries; liaise with the Supply team in relation to the completion and sign off raw material specifications.
* To maintain retailers web-based online technical systems/standards and follow through on audit actions.
* To update internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance to retail customer requirements and complete GAP analysis of same as required.
* Creation and management of internal labels; working closely with NPD in identifying and advising on labelling non-conformances and changes required to existing packs.
* To support with traceability exercises as required.
* To support the internal auditing team and actively participate in regular site audits and customer visits.
* To actively participate and be a member of the HACCP team.
* To undertake any other duties commensurate with this role.
Skills Required
* Specification Technology: 2 years (required)
* Raw Materials Specification: 2 years (required)
* Experience of writing customer specifications (retail), creation and approval of artwork
* Knowledge and understanding of the factory operation and the quality requirements of both the business and the customer.
* Self-organisation; motivation; planning; prioritising; time management
* Confident using a computer.
* Displays effective communication, listening, influencing and persuading skills at all levels.
