The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop’s Stortford, and St Margaret’s Hospital in Epping.
Job overview
We have a flexible scope with this part time role. We are keen to hear from Adult Audiologists, again who have significant experience in working with routine and complex adult patients.
Main duties of the job
* Works in a range of settings with patients who have hearing difficulties, their family and other carers and in particular, children with hearing impairment.
* Undertakes advanced diagnostic investigations of hearing for both adults and children where highly accurate results are vital.
* Works with patients to fit and verify hearing aid prescription, formulate individual treatment plans and provide ongoing care, advice and support to adults and children above the age of 3 with a wide range of hearing impairments.
* First to begin diagnosing hearing impairment for children / adults and their families and carers.
* To develop and where appropriate expand Paediatric & Adult Audiology Service delivery.
* To deliver new clinical procedures and processes.
* Adhere to national and local policies and standards regarding the diagnosis and rehabilitation of adults or children with hearing impairment.
* Works in inter-disciplinary and multi-agency working groups to achieve specific goals for patients and the service.
* Act as a clinical mentor for Student Audiologists and junior Audiologists working in the adult and paediatric team.
Person specification
Qualification
* BSc or equivalent in Audiology
* HCPC / AHCS Registration
* Experience working in Audiology in the NHS
* Clinical Scientist Registration
* Experience of mentoring and training
Skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Advanced Adult / Paediatric Assessment
* BSL Training
* Electrophysiological testing experience
